i had a brief talk with this man during one of my island hopping stops in coron.

i don’t know his name, so i called him “manong”, an endearing Filipino term for “sir” –

 

what we had was just small talk. so i only learned 4 things about him.

 

1. he is not a well-off guy.

2. he lives in the rural part of busuanga.

3. this is his boat –

 

4. and this –

…is his land.

 

he is the luckiest person i’ve ever met.
