Alena

A couple of hours ago, I learned that one of my childhood friends, Alena, has stage 4 cancer. In a span of a year, her breast cancer spread to her bones and now, as it seems so aggressive beyond our expectations, things are not good. At first I didn’t know what to do. Should I get in touch with her? Should I ask how she was? What should I say?

Eventually, I decided to send her a message to ask her how she was. And while my heart was bleeding, I couldn’t help but admire her for her strength, and her willingness to fight. I am truly inspired.

Dear Lord, please continue giving her the strength that she needs. Let her feel your presence while she goes through the most difficult time of her life. In times when she feels alone, please let her know that we are all here for her, and that You, our Father, will always be there to carry her during her entire journey.
