Baby Carrying

As what I have mentioned in my last post (which was more than a year ago…) with the new baby, I had to make sure that I can walk around and do stuff even if I am with her and that I had her stuff. Last year, I didn’t have a nanny, so if Emma was not in my mom’s house during work days, she was always attached to me.

So I got to experiment and find the best baby carriers in town.

One her first month, since her head and back were not strong yet, I tried out the ring sling. I got one from Mamaway and you know, my back and my arms were very grateful!

I went to the zoo wearing this and it was great.

However, the downside was it was hard to assemble. And I had to do adjustments often in order to make sure it’s snug.

When Emma turned 1 month, and could be carried ala kangaroo, I used the K’Tan, which was a gift from one of my girlfriends. It was even cozier than the ring sling, and very easy to use.  I got the Breeze variant so that Emma will not feel too warm inside.

Another reason why I love it? It’s as if Emma was hugging me the entire time.

When she got a little bigger, I made her face in front so that she can explore the world with me.

When the Baby Bjorn that we ordered from the US arrived, it was time for papa to wear our baby, and he had a blast.

It was even easier than the K’Tan. And it’s right for my husband as well. From then on,  going to the mall was easy. No need to cramp ourselves in the mall elevator with the stroller.

Overall, I can’t really pick a favorite carrier. Because in every stage of a baby’s life, there was one that will serve its purpose.  But one thing I can say is that wearing a baby is one of the best things in the world.

Sunday Playlist: JM and his guitars

Lifted this photo from @bobmaron over at Twitter… and even if I don’t play the guitar (or any instrument for that matter) I’m still envious of John Mayer’s collection (last count was 200 guitars).

This gave me an idea on how I will present today’s playlist.

Today, my playlist consisted of songs performed during the 2nd Mayercraft Carrier cruise held last week. Thanks to the wonderful Debbie Ocoboc over at MSM, I had the chance to live the experience via her recordings of John’s MCC2 performances.

Below are the songs worth noting, along with, hopefully, the correct description of the guitars he used.

Guitar: The famous Martin OM-28 John Mayer Acoustic

Song: “One Step at a Time” with Jordin Sparks at the VH1 Save the Music benefit (One Splendid Evening)

Song: “Sucker” Lido Deck

Guitar: Fender Tribute Stevie Ray Vaughan “Number One” Stratocaster

Song: “Wheel” 1st Night (this was an awesome performance, too bad I could not find the full video)

Guitar: Fender John Mayer Relic Stratocaster, soon to be the Fender JM “Black One” Custom Shop Stratocaster

Song: “Good Love is on the Way” 1st Night

Song: “Sweetest Berry” David Ryan Harris’ 2nd show

Guitar: Fender Artist Series II John Mayer Stratocaster

Song: “Mercy” 2nd Night

Guitar: 25th Anniversary Ernie Ball MusicMan

Song: “Inner City Blues” Soundcheck Party

I don’t know if he used his other show gear (like the Fender Jimi Hendrix Monterey Pop Festival Custom Shop Strat Replica, the Martin D-41, and the Gibson Les Paul), but with a total of 4 sets (plus 2 DRH gigs he appeared in), he most probably did.

What I do know is that he got himself a new one during the cruise.

A few months ago, fan and fellow collector, Erik Thureson, designed the one-of-a-kind Heritage Le Mans Fender JM Strat which he patterned after John’s Ford GT (a bit of trivia: the name “Le Mans” came from that car racing circuit where the original Ford GT40 won 4 times in a row back in the 60s).

Erik  attended the MCC2 and brought with him the Le Mans to see if John could play it at one of his shows. I think John thought that it was a gift, and Erik, who saw the excited look in his idol’s eyes, happily gave it to him. To his pleasant surprise, John offered to trade it with one of his guitars.

I sure hope he gets the Black Masterbuilt.

Here are a couple of bonus videos:

A nice shot of John performing “Half of My Heart” during the One Splendid Evening concert

And his shout out to Debbie O. (“The number 1 Mayer fan”) during his last show on the boat:

“Half of My Heart”

During the VH1 Save the Music show, John Mayer played a song that is still a work-in-progress (he said that it still needed tweaking) entitled “Half of My Heart”. It’ll be part of the album he’s currently working on.

I was born in the arms of imaginary friends
Free to roam, made a home out of everywhere I’ve been
Then you come crashing in
Like the realest thing
Trying my best to understand all that your love can bring
Oh, half of my heart’s got a grip on the situation
Half of my heart takes time
Half of my heart’s got the right mind to tell you that I cant keep loving you
Oh, half of my heart
I was made to believe I’d never love somebody else
I made a plan, stayed the man who can only love himself
Lonely was the song I sang
‘Til the day you came
Showing me a better way and all that my love can bring
Oh, half of my heart’s got a grip on the situation
Half of my heart takes time
Half of my heart’s got the right mind to tell you that I cant keep loving you
Oh, half of my heart
with half of my heart
Your faith is strong
But I can only fall so far so long
Time to hold, later on
You will hate that I never gave more to you
than half of my heart
But I can’t stop loving you
But I can’t stop loving you
But I can’t stop loving you
With half of my, half of my heart
Oh, half of my heart
Half of my heart’s got a real good imagination
Half of my heart’s got you
Half of my heart’s got a right mind to tell you
That half of my heart won’t do
Half of my heart is a shotgun wedding to a bride with a paper ring
Half of my heart is the part of a man who’s never really loved anything
Oh, half of my heart
Oh, half of my heart
Half of my heart
Oh, half of my heart
Half of my heart
Oh, half of my heart
Half of my heart

So far, so good.

This Cruise Depresses Me

The Mayercraft Carrier 2 will set sail tomorrow, March 27, en route to Cabo, San Lucas.

To kick-off this exciting trip, a special VHI Save the Music Benefit Show entitled “One Splendid Evening” will be held on the 26th (hey, that’s today!), featuring John Mayer and Jordin Sparks.

As how it was  last year, I’m again frustrated that while there’s a rock concert happening inside the ship, I’m on the other side of the world, contemplating on what to do with my pathetic, boring life.

Imagine how much better things would be if I get to experience these:

All I really can do, for now, is to monitor the posts by people who are actually going…

…while I sulk in my room.

Hurray for Twitter and RSS Feeds.
