Music lost another one…
Rock music’s mournful sound
Lester William Polfuss, or more popularly known as Les Paul, has passed away. He was 94
The electric guitar has lost a father.
Rest in peace, Les Paul. Jeff Buckley will be so thrilled to finally jam with you. Give him a hug for me, will yah?
Honoring the Honor Guards
People may think that being honor guards for an important person’s funeral is an easy task, as it only requires being able to stay by the coffin until the body is laid to rest.
Not if you were one of the 4 individuals assigned to Cory Aquino’s internment.

Pfc. Antonio Cadiente, Airman 2nd Class Gener Laguindam, Petty Officer 3 Edgardo Rodriguez and PO1 Danilo Maalab, each representing the 3 branches of the Philippine Armed Forces (Philippine Navy, Philippine Army and Philippine Air Force) and the Philippine National Police, stood at attention for more than nine hours, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m last Wednesday, as the cortege made its way to Mrs. Aquino’s final destination.
They didn’t move an inch – not to rest their numbing legs, to answer the call of nature nor to nourish themselves with food.
These 4 individuals, along with those who were assigned during the 4-day wake and the transfer from La Salle to Manila Cathedral, will be given fitting honors themselves for their unwavering display of commitment to their duties —

— but for them, just being able to fulfill this task was the most important reward they have received.
And another one joined the Dream Team…
RIP, John Hughes (February 18, 1950 – August 6, 2009)
My childhood is slowly fading…
Sigh.
This is turning out to be an obit site…
Today, we celebrated a life lived for Filipinos.
We are currently mourning over death of the Mother of Philippine Democracy…

A life definitely lived

Walter Cronkite
Walter Cronkite, an iconic CBS News journalist who defined the role of anchorman for a generation of television viewers, died Friday at the age of 92.
His career peak was before my time, but here I am, remembering the man whose voice I often heard when significant events in modern history are featured on TV.
Who could forget that very moment he announced President John F. Kennedy’s death?
Or his 27-hour air time to share with the viewers Apollo 11’s 30-hour mission to the moon?
The “8th astronaut”, the “most trusted man in America”, the greatest journalist in the world is gone.
RIP, Mr. Cronkite. Thank you.
DMB minus Leroi Moore
I’ve viewed countless tribute videos for Leroi Moore, the Dave Matthews Band saxophonist who passed away last year (even the one where Dave Matthews was in tears while he and his band played at Staples Center, hours after news of Leroi’s passing was announced), but this one, taken from their concert in Brazil, moved me the most.
It’s a full recording of the song “#41” and at the end, the crowd suddenly let go white balloons leaving those onstage speechless (and teary-eyed, for sure).
Dan Seals 1948-2009
“The Best of England Dan and John Ford Coley” is one of those albums that have endured the constant change in my musical taste. From cassette tapes to MP3 formats, from the iPod mini to the iPod video, I always made it a point that it’s still part of the collections I’ve had through the years. I don’t really know why, but whenever I listen to the songs from that album — such as “I’d Really Love To See You Tonight", "It’s Sad to Belong to Someone Else" and "Love is the Answer" – a certain feeling of comfort, like drinking hot chocolate (with marshmallows) in front of the fire on a cold night, would set in.
So imagine the sadness I felt upon learning that half of the duo, whose voice has kept me company since my childhood days, is gone.
Dan Seals (England Dan) passed away last March 25 due to cancer.
